Black policeman protects a Klan member. 1970s?

19 Sept 2015: Bruce T writes ‘It’s been awhile, but I believe that photo is from the Skokie Protests in suburban Chicago, circa 1979. The Klan and Neo-Nazi’s tried several times to march in the suburb of Skokie, home to a large Jewish population, and the highest number of Holocaust survivors per capita in the United States. It ended up in the US Supreme Court. As an aside, the Neo-Nazi’s after Jake and Elwood in the movie “The Blues Brothers” is a serious smack at the Nazi’s and Klan groups involved in Skokie. The boy’s drive through a neo-Nazi rally, with Elwood lowering his sunglasses saying, “Illinois Nazis?”, with a smirk as they smash through the Nazi’s podium and picnic tables. The Nazi leader picks up a concert flyer and pencils “The Blues Brothers” on his enemies list and it’s goes from there.’ thanks Bruce!
