    Here are some more in the rumours series. Tales of international and sometimes local politics that relate or that are easily connected to the events of WW1. Beach did these at the same time as rumours for WW2 (another post another day). No question, WW1 rumours or those that the press deign to publish are far more colourful than their WW2 equivalents.

    18 Jun 2017: Kevin writes ‘I thought you might get a kick out of this item.  The link is to high-resolution images of a promotional newspaper, circa 1917, for the sale of Victory bonds.  Produced in Canada, the “Victory Telegraph” contains several “fake news” stories about the invasion of Canada by Germany.  While not rumors per se, the articles do take a serious tone and are written essentially as speculative fiction.  One element I found tickled the imagination was where the authors describe the “wireless energy” that the Germans used to power their invasion.’
