May is the laziest month. Exhaustion after the semester, a chance to relax… Watch some of the amazingly good American TV shows out there. Read comics. Potter in the garden. Waste time. Well, it was good but now it has come to the end. Hope to do some hard writing in the next three months starting tomorrow, or perhaps the day after tomorrow. For those readers who have inquired Mrs B’s pregnancy is proving difficult but she seems to have found a gentle stability: due date November. A little girl… As to the site I owe a huge debt to those of you who send in the links: I particularly want to thank here Wade, Chris W., Amanda, Chris S. Ricardo and Amanda. Mauro continues to run the Facebook account: see top page link. And now the 9000 most important words from this month. Have a great June.

    Beach

Not Taking Prisoners in WW2: ML writes in with thoughts on parachutes and Burma, SM on the Coldstream Guards, memories from Wolland on Allied War Attrocities. TF on the Falklands and British unpleasantness and crucially (new for me) the concept of the heat of battle. James recalls Vietnam. Nathaniel on code words for getting rid of German POWs.

Loch Ness Exorcism: Roland sends in a video of the exorcism!

Rabies and Dogs Liver: Janet with a nice piece from the late 19 cent.

Hooping Cough Cures: Janet with another example of ass medicine.

In Defence of the Dark Ages: Michael D sets out the boundaries better than I had.

8000 Year Old Memories: Leif asks how they could have forgotten!

Nuremberg Love Goddess:  Loretta and Tacitus from Detritus on nearby attractions.

Churchill and Stalin at Tehran: JCE lyrical on the great WC.

Pixy-Led and Neurology: Rebis, Chris from Haunted Ohio Books and LH all share their experiences and views (personal in the case of Chris)

Rommel in the US:  Mike Dash and Southern Man between them have Rommel’s number.

Yemeni Wives: TW on ‘apparently’ submissive ethnic wives.

Irish Slaughter Dogs: LTM on the wolfhound, KMH on myth, Jake questions the sources and Mauro on other war dogs.

Cuckolds: Chris S on alternative theories and Neill worries that the rabbit gesture in the UK is not the cuckold at all (I hope to come back to this)

Vampire Inn: Jack with a brewery theory.

Black Dogs in Cornwall: Mark Norman on some background to Cornish dogs, Chris from Haunted Ohio Books gives us the dirty on radium.

Power and Ageing: CS writes on expectations and Judith from Zenobia has problems with the whole thesis.

Fighting the Plains Trains: Mauro C, Ricardo, KMH and Chris give background.
